Zoos participate in the association of zoos and aquariums (aza’s) species survival plan (ssp) which aims to help manage the breeding of endangered species to maintain healthy and self-sustaining populations. This is all done with the end goal being able to reintroduce the once endangered animals back into the wild and have them live by themselves.
